Description
Fine Irish Linen Kinsale Christening Cloak – “Celtic Cross” Style Pure Irish linen, inspired designs and generations of County Donegal craftsmanship come together in the making of this handsome hooded christening cloak.
Fully lined, a timeless and respected blend of tradition and ceremony.
One size, for little girls or boys up to 12 months. Non Allergic.
The design of the cloak was inspired by the famed “Kinsale,” a billowing, hooded, full-length cloak which was a tradition in rural Ireland for hundreds of years, and even today can be seen being worn in the west of County Cork. This timeless design has been created to great effect in this marvelous baptism cloak made by one of Ireland’s leading linen companies. The embroidery on this cloak depicts an Irish Celtic cross, or high cross, among the most impressive of Irish monuments of antiquity. Donegal is home of the earliest known Irish high cross, the seventh century Carndonagh Cross, which was part of a hermitage in the northwest of the County. The cloak is simple and yet elegant, with a plain hem and tie at the neck.
